Automus Prima was one of the first worker-drones created by the 13 Primes of Cybertron. Amalgamous Prime (the Trickster Prime) did do one unselfish thing, he shared part of his metamorphic spark with Automus, so that he could have multiple modes, and also mass-shift while keeping his strength, to be able to transform into any useful hand-tool, or to transform into factories themselves. For centuries Automus diligently carried on with his tasks, at whatever job he was given, building Cybertron from the blank canvas to the utopian global metropolis that all Cybertronians called home. Eventually most other Cybertronians developed the ability to morph into other modes, but they were limited to either one, or a few other modes. Because of this ability they became known as the Transformers.
